Key Academic Dates & Other Important Dates
The Key Academic Dates found below are those approved by Senate in May 2022.
- Classes begin: Wednesday, August 28 (except for Dentistry and Medicine students – please see faculty schedules)
- Fall Reading Break: Tuesday, October 15 to Friday, October 18 inclusive (some exceptions apply)
- Makeup Day: Wednesday, December 4 *
- Classes end: Wednesday, December 4
- Study Day: Thursday, December 5
- Exams begin: Friday, December 6
- Exams end: Friday, December 20 (11 days, including evening exams)
Other important dates built around the Key Academic Dates include:
- Deadline to register for at least one course to avoid registration penalties: Wednesday, August 14
- Deadline to cancel registration: Saturday, August 31
- Add/Drop deadline: Tuesday, September 10
- Course or University Withdrawal with refund deadline: Tuesday, September 17
- Course or University Withdrawal WITHOUT REFUND deadline: Tuesday, October 29

Note about Make Up Days: On Wednesday, December 4, the normal Wednesday schedule of course lectures, labs, and conferences will be replaced by a Monday schedule.

The schedule patterns in this table follow the same convention as course listings in Minerva Class Schedule. Each pattern indicates the days on which a course is normally held – for example, a course with a MWF pattern is held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Legal holidays
All course activities are cancelled and administrative offices are closed on the following dates:
- Labour Day: Monday, September 2
- Thanksgiving: Monday, October 14
- Holiday break: Wednesday, December 25, 2024 to Thursday, January 2, 2025 inclusive

- Exams begin: Monday, April 14
- Exams end: Wednesday, April 30 (11 days, including evening exams)

- Deadline to register without penalty (new students only): Thursday, January 4
