Timeline for Raymond building reopening

Published: 24 March 2023

I know that many students and instructors are eager to know when the classrooms in the Raymond building (classrooms whose numbers begin with “R” in the Octagon) will re-open. The process of re-opening is more complicated than re-opening the Macdonald-Stewart and Barton buildings because of the Octagon’s proximity to the construction site. We expect to be able to announce a timeline next week.

We are continuing to post new FAQs responding to questions submitted for the Town Hall on March 14. These include information about the exact safety thresholds for air tests at McGill and how to create a record of possible exposure to asbestos. As some members of the community have asked for laboratory test reports to be posted, we are working on doing so and will let you know when that information is available.

I would also invite you to read the message sent out March 21st that provides more information about why different tests are performed and what information they provide, if you have not already. All messages are available on this page, and are linked from the home page of the Macdonald campus website.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we carefully work toward a complete – and safe – reopening of the complex.
