What motivated you to start Hivelighter?
I saw an opportunity to improve knowledge sharing and curation since traditional social media was not good at it, but Pinterest was doing an amazing job with images. With highlighting being a universal experience, I wanted to give it the same value as a pinned picture.
What are some challenges you are facing while scaling your startup?
The market is very revenue-driven and we are leaning to re-prioritize revenue in our business plan. An added is that people think we are a nice-to-have but fail to see how Hivelighter can redefine the way people share ideas starting with text but then moving to videos and images to have a universal way to catalogue knowledge.
How did the Dobson Centre play a role in Hivelighter as we know it today?
The Dobson X-1 Accelerator did as promised – it accelerated the growth of Hivelighter. By quickly streamlining the go-to-market strategy, polishing the business model, and making us repeat our pitch, it truly saved us 6 months.
Who would be an ideal partner or collaborator for Hivelighter?
What we do is the perfect complement for LinkedIn – the interaction between business and knowledge. People want to share relevant content on LinkedIn and Hivelighter would be the perfect way to build knowledge resources and content. We imagine a future LinkedIn where you can read people’s Hivelighter profile before meeting with them!
What are you most excited about for Tech Day in New York City?
I am a big tech geek! The opportunity to learn about all the newest tech from around the world is fascinating. For Hivelighter, we are looking to meet with different industries given that our product is compatible with knowledge management platforms filling an important gap in companies.
