DISE Welcomes New Faculty Member Dr. Lisa Starr

The Department is excited to welcome Dr. Lisa Starr to McGill. Dr. Starr moved to DISE from the University of Victoria, and is going to be strongly focused on teacher education. She is experienced in this area and completed her PhD on the topic, so will be well-placed to help us think about how to evolve our programs.

Faculty of Education undergrad Jennifer Looi recognized with prestigious international award

Congratulations to Faculty of Education undergraduate student Jennifer Looi for her outstanding achievement in the Teacher Education category at The Undergraduate Awards 2013 Global Summit. Jennifer, who is in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE), was invited to Dublin earlier this month to accept her award, and meet similarly accomplished students from around the world to exchange ideas.

Making an impression: Inuit artist and DISE student's art to be featured on five-dollar coin

McGill’s First Nations and Inuit Education (FNIE) celebrates Nunavik artist Ulaayu Pilurtuut, whose design “Mother and Baby Ice Fishing” has been selected by the Royal Canadian Mint to be featured on the new five-dollar silver coin. Using photovoice and the participatory process, she brings forward girls’ voices to key policy makers in Rwanda.

DISE's Dale Boyle PhD a winner in International Songwriting Competition

The Faculty of Education's arts-based education researcher Dale Boyle PhD has won second place in the Americana category of the International Songwriting Competition (ISC)  for his song “You Might Come Around” from his recent album "Throwback".

Dr. Beverly Baker and Dr. Aziz Choudry of DISE recently awarded SSHRC Connection Grants

Dr. Baker and Dr. Choudry were recently awarded SSHRC Connection Grants to fund knowledge mobilization activities, aiming to facilitate the multidirectional flow of knowledge between universities and the community.

The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal awarded to four members of the Faculty of Education community

This medal is awarded to citizens or permanent residents of Canada who have made significant contributions to Canada or for an outstanding achievement abroad that has brought great credit to Canada.
