DESCRIPTION:Dr. Mark Yaffe will present on the results of six controlled tr
 ials of self-care interventions for depression and/ or anxiety\, comparing
  telephone lay guidance of self-care tools to self-directed use of the sam
 e tools. This research\, conducted over ten years\, benefited from a stron
 g interdisciplinary collaboration. The presence of a clinician-scientist h
 elped the understanding of how to implement each of the six studies for un
 ique patient population\, suggested relevant interpretation of the data\, 
 and engaged in ongoing examination of how these potentially sustainable in
 terventions might be implemented in real-world settings.\n\nThis seminar i
 s organized by the McGill Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) at the De

 e where we either feature visiting researchers from other universities\, o
 r showcase the work of our own researchers. The seminars are attended by o
 ur graduate students\, researchers and clinicians\, and are open to the wh
 ole McGill community. They address a wide range of research methods and to
 pics relevant to primary health care\, and provide opportunity for interac
 tion and exchange with the speakers. The Research Seminars are Fridays at 
 around noon.\n\n
