We regret that we can no longer accept registrations. Thank you for your interest.

In the context of the renewal of McGill University’s Faculty of Law transsystemic program, 17 years after its creation, the Crépeau Centre wants to create a forum to exchange on the past, current state and future challenges of that approach. The symposium will reunite McGill and international scholars, judges, lawyers and students to think and debate on the transsystemic approach and its future.

Among the topics to be discussed: what are the challenges of a transsystemic or transnational approach in scientific research? How does transsystemism differentiates itself from other traditional comparative approaches? Is the bijural and bilingual transsytemic legal teaching method exportable in other jurisdictions? Does transsystemic legal education meet the expectations of the labour market in the context of the internationalization of the law?

The symposium will be followed by a cocktail and launch of the following books:

  • Evan J. Criddle & Evan Fox-Decent, Fiduciaries of Humanity : How International Law Constitutes Authority (OUP, 2016)
  • Yaëll Emerich, Droit commun des biens: perspective transsystémique (Éditions Yvon Blais, 2017)
