Training and Workshops

Training for Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students

The SEDE office offers staff, faculty, and graduate students the opportunity to participate in a workshop series on equity and diversity issues in the classroom and on the campus. The series consists of 5 sessions, and includes a workshop focused on creating inclusive spaces for queer and trans* people at McGill, entitled, Safer Spaces: Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. Participants who attend this session may elect to become a McGill Safer Spaces Ally.

Other workshops in the suite include Understanding Discrimination; Race, Culture, and Anti-Racism; Indigenous Perspectives; and Access, Disability, and Universal Design. It is not necessary to register for all the workshops in order to take one of them, as the sessions are designed to stand on their own.  However, the material covered in the sessions is complementary, and beginning in the 2013-2014 Academic Year, participants completing all five sessions will receive a certificate of completion.

The SEDE office also offers made-to-measure trainings for your department, unit, or team. Call us at (514) 398-2176 or send us an equity.education [at] mcgill.ca (email) if you would like more information.

McGill University is on land that long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst
Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge
and thank the diverse Indigenous people whose footsteps have marked this territory on which
peoples of the world now gather.
